Sprints

Short, focused periods of work that turn a backlog into a plan with dates.

Sprints are short, focused periods of work — typically a week or two — that help you deliver a set amount of work. Use them to group tasks into manageable timeframes and keep your team moving at a steady pace.

Sprint pages have a Backlog where every task lives by default: a resting state for work that hasn't been committed to a specific timeframe. Creating a sprint and dragging tasks into it turns loose intent into a plan with dates against it, so your team knows what's meant to land in the current sprint versus what's still on pause.

How to get started with sprints

Creating a sprint and dragging tasks in from the backlog.
1
From the Backlog, select Add new sprint to create one with a name, start date, and end date.
2
Drag tasks in from the backlog to commit them to that timeframe.
3
Spot a gap? Use Add New in the top right of the page (or bottom left of a sprint list) to create a new task without navigating away.
4
When you're ready to begin, select Start Sprint on the sprint row.
5
Once all planned work has been completed, select Complete Sprint to close the sprint and finalise its results.

As tasks change status, the ring on each sprint header fills in: solid for done, patterned for in-progress. You can see at a glance whether the sprint's on track without opening it.

Use the filter panel to narrow what's listed by assignee, status, priority, type, or label. The Labels tab searches every label in the workspace by name, so you can check on all the Animation work across a sprint without scanning it row by row.

* Project membership required. Members, Contributors, and Viewers can only open a project they've been added to, and every starred write needs membership from every role — Owners and Admins included. Trellis offers to add you when you hit one.

Sprints follow the same access pattern as the Timeline: Viewers see everything in read-only mode (browse sprints, expand them, see which tasks sit inside), while every other role gets full create, edit, start, complete, and delete access — subject to project membership. The delete restriction (sprint must be empty and not yet started) is a data-safety guard, not a role one.
