Ask natural-language questions, generate reports, and manage tasks and comments without leaving the conversation.
Trellis AI turns your workspace into something you can talk to. Ask natural-language questions about your projects, generate client-ready update reports, create or update tasks, and manage comments without leaving the conversation. It's built to save time on the routine work that would otherwise mean clicking through the UI or digging through project data manually.
Tip
Flip the Enable AI features toggle to turn Trellis AI on across your workspace. Once enabled, members can start using it straight away — no per-user setup required.
What Trellis AI can do
Once enabled, members can:
- Ask questions about workspace data — projects, tasks, sprints, team members, workflow statuses. Useful for status checks without opening five tabs.
- Generate project update reports — a client-ready summary covering executive summary, completed work, in-progress items, blockers, decisions needed, and optionally spend and timeline data for any date range.
- Create, update, archive, or delete tasks — spin up a bug or task by describing it in plain English, or ask Trellis AI to reprioritise or reassign existing work.
- Manage comments on any task — post a new comment, edit or delete an existing one, or add reactions.
- Plan sprints — create a sprint, rename it or change its dates, start or complete it, and move tasks into it. Tasks can be placed at the top, at the bottom, or next to a specific task, and moving them out of a sprint means moving them to the backlog.
- Manage timeline milestones — add, move, recolour, or remove a milestone by describing it: "add a Client launch milestone on 1 December in red".
- Link and unlink tasks — create or remove dependencies between tasks in the same project.
- Set timeline colours — recolour a task's timeline bar by hex code or by name, e.g. "make the QA deliverable amber".
Note
Usage
When AI is enabled, the page shows live token usage for your workspace across three windows:
- Rolling (5h) — short-term burst limit, resets every 5 hours
- Weekly — weekly usage cap, resets every 7 days
- Monthly — monthly usage limit, resets on the 1st of each month
The panel shows how much of each window you've used, along with the time until each one resets. Together these limits keep AI availability predictable for the whole workspace, even if one team member gets very active in a single session.

Only Owners and Admins can turn Trellis AI on or off for the workspace. Once enabled, everyone except Viewers can use it. The Viewer role can't open the chat or ask AI to do anything. For roles that can use AI, Trellis AI mirrors your existing permissions: you need to be a member of a project to create or update tasks on it, and you can only edit or delete comments you authored — matching what the UI already enforces.
