Project settings is where a project's meta data lives: what it's called, what state it's in, who's working on it, and how visible it is to you. Everywhere else in Trellis reads from here — the Project Manager and Lead named here show up on the Project Overview and in every activity log entry, and timesheets and reports know who's on the team because of the Collaborators list.
Note
Naming and state
- Project name — how the project appears everywhere in Trellis, including reports and the sidebar
- Project stage — Not started, In progress, or Complete. Workspace admins use this to spot projects that are ready to archive
- Labels — attach any of your workspace labels to group projects by client, phase, or theme. The same labels are used on tasks and roadmap items, so labelling here connects a project to its downstream work
Ownership
- Project Manager and Project Lead — informational roles that make it clear who's accountable for delivery and who runs the day-to-day. Assigning either doesn't grant new permissions, but the names surface on the Project Overview and in the activity log.
- Collaborators — who has access to the project's tasks, timesheets, and files. Collaborators come from your workspace pool, so if the person isn't there yet, invite them via Workspace → Members first.
Pin this project — a per-user shortcut that pushes the project to the top of your Projects list and surfaces it on your Dashboard's Pinned projects widget. Your pins don't affect what anyone else sees.
Danger zone
Danger
- Archive hides the project from active lists but keeps all its data intact — you can unarchive at any time
- Delete is permanent: the project and everything inside it goes, and the button requires typing a confirmation

* Project membership required. Members, Contributors, and Viewers can only open a project they've been added to, and every starred write needs membership from every role — Owners and Admins included. Trellis offers to add you when you hit one.
Project settings is visible to everyone with project access, but the fields split cleanly by role. Owners, Admins, and Editors can edit every field on the page and can archive or delete the project. Members, Contributors, and Viewers see the same page in read-only form so they can see who's on the team and what stage the project is in, but their only active option in the Danger zone is Leave project — the opposite of Archive and Delete, and only shown to roles who don't own the project workspace-wide.
