Milestones and shareable links on the project timeline
Mark the dates that matter against every deliverable, and hand a client the whole plan through a link that needs no Trellis account.
Milestones
A launch, a client sign-off, a hard deadline — a milestone draws a dotted line across the chart with a coloured label, so a fixed date stays visible against everything you have planned around it.
- Click any date in the timeline header to add a milestone there, or use the flag button in the toolbar and pick the date yourself.
- Each milestone takes a name, a date, a colour, and an optional note that shows on hover. Labels stack where several share a date.
- Milestones are included in PNG and PDF exports, in shared read-only timelines, and in saved timeline versions.
- A milestone dated beyond your last deliverable still shows — the timeline widens to reach it.
Shareable project timelines
Send a client or stakeholder a link that opens the timeline without an account — always showing the current plan, and closed the moment you want it closed.
- Create the link from Share on the timeline. One live link per project, and the in-app URL for colleagues sits in the same place.
- The public view is read-only. Task descriptions, assignees, statuses, estimates, and comments are never sent — though a milestone's note is, so keep internal context out of it.
- Whoever you send it to can export what they see as a PNG or PDF.
- Regenerate issues a fresh link and closes the old one for everyone holding it; a link you replace or retire cannot be brought back.
- Owners, admins, editors, and members can create links. Contributors and viewers cannot, and archiving a project warns you if a live link exists.
